Getting Older with Grace... Lately I have been contemplating a lot of things in life. Whether I made the right choice in pursuing my career rather than a boy, if I should have been putting up the right image to attract what is perceived to be the 'right' guy at the 'right' time or whether I should have been climbing the social ladder rather than the work ladder. My family has gotten into that state where almost every conversation ends with - so who is he, is there a he, will you be getting married soon? Before these questions used to bother me because they used to make me wonder if I was doing the right thing in life, if being ambitious was really the route  for me. Now their questions amuse me more than than they annoy me. Am I single? Yes. By choice? Yes. Am I waiting for prince charming to come sweep me off my feet? Maybe. Will I wait to be a pretty trophy wife? No. I am happy with the choices I have made so far, even if they people around watch and question, ...
DEATH Death...the one thing that is a guarantee besides the return of Christ. We talk about it, we preach about it, we know it's an eventuality we're all going to face but it never gets easier.  To say goodbye to the people we love, not to speak to them, never to laugh or share our sorrows with. Death the ending of one life to give birth to eternity with our Father. Death is not easy but for a glimpse of eternity with God, it is worth the pain of leaving behind ones loved ones. Isaiah 25:1-12 NIV Lord , you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.   You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin, the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.   Therefore strong peoples will honor you; cities of ruthless nations will revere you.   You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the...
We have to start somewhere: The start of a new year is always a wonderful thing. This means that we have been blessed with one more to do all the things that we were unable (or unwilling) to do the year before. It is also a year for reflection, where you look back at how far you have come and how far you want to go. This time of reflection can revel many things. It could reveal all the traits we did not even know we had, all the good and…some of the bad stuff as well. As I write this I am in that time of reflection looking at all the choices I made, the things I think I did good and the things I wish I could erase in its entirety. During this time of reflection I have come to learn two things: One, sometimes we need an inside look – not a depressing look – but sometimes I think we need to be honest with ourselves about who we are, what we want and what we believe. The second thing is: learning to deal with what we find once we take at honest look inside ...
The pain won't last forever There are times when we go through things and we believe that the pain we feel at that time will be with us forever. We fail to look beyond the things that we feel in that moment. I have moments like that when I think that everything is going so wrong that I fail to see beyond my currant situation. But as usual the people close to me continue to remind me that pain I feel is only momentary. That the things I feel now will pass, the pain I feel will go away. its never easy to acknowledge when your flaws when your in a funk but at times you need to look beyond your circumstances in order to find a better way to deal with your current pain. Like I said in the begging there are days when I want to wallow into a black hole and forget everything outside my current moment. I just wanted to be a reminder that even the Bible says that pain is momentary. We need to learn to look beyond our current situation. The pain you feel today is only momentary it wil...
Wishing upon a star Do you remember when you were younger and you would wish for something with all your might? And when it didn’t happen, you would sulk for days? I remember those days (because I still do that sometimes). It’s amazing how things have not changed since that time. I still pray and wish for certain things to happen and boy oh boy do I get in a mood when things don’t necessarily go my way – just ask my parents. Recently I have come to the realization that sometimes the things we wish for might not necessarily be what is good for us. Now don’t get me wrong I still find myself daydreaming about what could be and wishing for what might be. I have just learnt to not let it consume me as it used to. There are times in life – I have realized – where we need to say thank you for the things we did not get rather than drag our feet and sulk for days for the things we wish would come our way. Take delight in this passage… Proverbs...
This thing called love Everyone is looking for it in different shapes and sizes, we all change who we are in order to be prepared for it. However how many of us actually understand what love is. We talk about it, we laugh about, and we go out in search for it at every single comer. We all have our different reasons for searching for it but deep down the fundament principal is the same for all of us. We all want to feel like we matter to someone else out there, that if something where to happen tom us there is someone out there who will care enough to ask questions. Sometimes it hurts to love someone with all you earthly strength and for them to take that love for granted, but there comes a time where we have to understand that our desire to be loved and to loved will not always be returned  by the people we would like. Hurt is sometimes the biggest hurdle we have to climb over in order that we may find the rainbow at the end of the storm. Wanting to feel like you matter to...

The Best Approach with a Frenemy Recently a friend of mine asked me how things were going at work, and I gave her the usual comments I give to most people: 'It was great I'm learning a lot and I absolutely love what I am doing'.  She paused for a moment then asked me how the people were treating me. This question made me pause for a moment, because i was thinking of all the generic answers I could give - 'agh they are all nice and polite'. Even as I was reciting it in my head I knew it sounded fake.  So I choose to trust her with the plain truth. I replied: 'I have made some really awesome friends, who have chosen to accept me for me however, there are those who are constantly mean and seeking to hurt and insult me with their words - some of them grew tired when they realised that I would not take part in their high school games, others still continue to fight and speak ill of me they just do it in quieter tones now that they now that my uncle sig...
