We have to start
somewhere:
The start of a new year is always a wonderful thing. This
means that we have been blessed with one more to do all the things that we were
unable (or unwilling) to do the year before. It is also a year for reflection,
where you look back at how far you have come and how far you want to go.
This time of reflection can revel many things. It could
reveal all the traits we did not even know we had, all the good and…some of the
bad stuff as well. As I write this I am in that time of reflection looking at
all the choices I made, the things I think I did good and the things I wish I
could erase in its entirety.
During this time of reflection I have come to learn two
things: One, sometimes we need an inside look – not a depressing look – but
sometimes I think we need to be honest with ourselves about who we are, what we
want and what we believe. The second thing is: learning to deal with what we
find once we take at honest look inside our hearts. It’s never easy to admit
that one has imperfections, but if don’t admit these things even to ourselves
then there’s no learning. Without learning there’s no growth.
This song below I feel best explains how I feel right now...
Toby Mac – City on our knees
If you gotta
start somewhere
Why not
here?
If you gotta
start sometime
Why not now?
If we gotta
start somewhere I say here
If we gotta
start sometime I say now
Through the
fog
There is
hope in the distance
From
cathedrals to third world missions
Love will
fall to the earth like a crashing wave
First
Chorus:
Tonight's
the night
For the
sinners and the saints
Two worlds
collide in a beautiful display
It's all up
tonight
When we step
across the line
We can sail
across the sea
To a city
with one king
A city on
our knees
If you gotta
start somewhere
Why not
here?
If you gotta
start sometime
Why not now?
If we gotta
start somewhere
I say here
If we gotta
start sometime
I say now
Chorus
Tonight could last forever
We are one choice from together
Family, we're family
You and me, yeah you and me
Second Chorus:
Tonight's the night
For the sinners and the saints
Two worlds collide in a glorious display
It's all up tonight
When we step across the line
We can sail across the sea
To a city with one king
A city on our knees
If we gotta start somewhere
Why not here?
If we gotta start sometime
Why not now?
Well said indeed we need time to reflect and deal with the results of that reflection
