Sink or Swim

Recently I have been taking stock of my life and my actions. I know what some of you might be thinking...this girl has too much time on her hands. Technically that's not true if anything I have to squeeze in time to write all these thoughts down. And no, I did not go away to some retreat - where I was sitting cross legged for hours trying to connect to my inner self (not that there's anything wrong with people who do that) it's just not for me. I would have to be dragged kicking and screaming before I see myself doing that anyways I digress from the main point here. Recently during one of my television binges - don't judge me - I came to a startling realisation I'm watching people get paid or at least my watching them is constantly. That made me realise that it's time for me to start making great television rather than sitting and watching great television. I have all these dreams and ideas that I keep idle in my mind because I am so scared to go after wha...

RESPECT MY HUSTLE

So recently I got a promotion at work. A sort of step up if you will and I thought to myself yes, cheers to the high life all will be well and I'm going to rock this ish out the freak'n ball park.... Man was I wrong and I mean super wrong... Firstly when you step up nobody wants to help you. When your climbing that ladder of success only those who truly want you to see you succeed will push and stretch you beyond your limits. Everyone, well they are just waiting to see how far up the ladder you get before it all falls apart and you come tumbling down to the bottom . That's when I discovered how far the human spirit can be pushed, tossed and refined in the fire before it actually crumbles and falls apart. I've worked hard to get to where I am today through Prayer and sheer Hard Work. Why is it so hard for people to at least respect that. I mean you don't have to like me, that's ok because guess what when two people are hired by a company none of their cont...

Finding my happy

Recently I have have been having such a difficult time deciding what it is I want and how I want to go about making sure that the path I take is the right one for me. There are times when I feel like I'm drowning in a sea of in decision, where I just swim from one decision to the next. I can barely keep my head above water because I'm constantly swimming towards the next big decision that will change the course of my life in an instant. Then I came across this post I had written a while back -  but for whatever reason never actually published - that reminded me that sometimes you just have to trust where God is taking you even if you feel like your decisions are constantly pushing you against the current...  When God prepares a path for you - you have two options. 1. Go with what He has prepared for you and trust that He will be with you. 2. Go against the current for as long as you can wasting time until you get back to the path He has laid for you. Today I r...

Loneliness

I thought the hardest part of loosing my grandad would be the overwhelming sadness that came with loosing a loved one but I was wrong the hardest part in dealing with his death would be the loneliness and emptiness of not having him around. I miss the sound of his voice screaming across the house to let my brother be, I miss the sound of his footsteps as he walks towards the tv room for his daily dose of local and international news. I miss the sound of his laughter as he comments on the happenings of some tv character on one of his beloved soaps but most importantly I just miss him. It feels strange to be in his house without him. I feel a little lost and lonely at the same time. I feel like I'm in a dream and any minute from now I'll awake and everything will be back to  normal. I keep questioning myself, asking myself questions like would I be happier if he was alive but still in pain - if him being alive means I no longer feel this empty void inside of me. I wish I wa...
Why... Sometimes the people who are the strongest are the one's who have to carry the biggest loads. This week I have come to realise that the people who depend the most on you can sometimes use your strong will as a crutch to get over big hurdles in life. I just sometime wish I had a fast forward the bad stuff in life, but I can almost hear the answer in my head about how all the bad stuff is the stuff that will groom you in life. I just wish sometimes it would not be so tough. I just want to do what I love, work hard to pursue my passion and laugh at all the silly thing in life...why does life have to be difficult?
New Year, New resolutions? Last year when my mom and I were driving back home for the holidays she asked me what my plans were for this year and if I had any resolutions that i wanted to make for the following year. My answer was a  resounding no! If I had learnt anything from the previous year was that one does not make any plans unless they had every intention of sticking to them, and since my only plan was to take each day and each challenge as it came, I choose to not make any New Year's resolutions this year. I want to live in the moment, I want to face each challenge as it comes without constantly looking back to a plan I made under different circumstances or situation. If and when I make solid plans I do want them to be influenced by the haze and excitement of a 'New Beginning/Year' I'm eagerly awaiting a year full of surprises, new friendships and challenges that will change and shape me for the better...Happy New Year
Pursuing change I’m scared; I’m doubting whether or not I will be able to do. Do I have the courage to stand and fight for what I want do I have the courage to pursue change. A lot of new and interesting things have been taking place at work, a lot of new areas for growth and a lot of new learning opportunities have come my way. At the begging I was scared to take them because I kept thing what would people say, what if I’m taking on more work than I can handle, what if I fail? So for a moment I was considering running away from the challenge, staying put in my little box of comfort. Why did I need to shake things up anyways, my life was great just as is. As I was on my way to tell my colleague ‘Thanks but not thanks, I’m happy where I am right here’ she told me something that gave me courage to go ahead and swim into the unknown...sometimes you have to pursue change. So what if I fail, so what if things are not easy and I have to fight to get my recognition, so what i...
